Can a president be convicted of a crime as president, once he leaves office?

If it was found out that President Bush committed crimes (for argument sake, let's say war crimes) during his presidency, can he be convicted after the fact? Is there a statue of limitations for the President? How long before he has immunity from this?

Yes. The president receives no protection that any citizen doesn't have.

For arguments sake, let's say you hated Bush and someone else hated Obama. Would they be racist and you be a victim?
All of them already has a shopping list of court dates with just such law suits . And even some try and tap into the pocket book of the pres while he is still in office . This is the American way . If you can't make your million by working for it sue for it .
Yes. And there is no immunity granted at any time. The President is a citizen who was hired to do a job. Nothing more. He is subject to the law jsut like anyone else.
yes.. but you'd have to find a cop that wasnt an accomplice.. or one that wasnt as crooked as bush.. to arrest him.. then a court not as corrupt as bush to convict him.. so .. you can forget about it.. the first test of obama will be the bush criminal enterprise issue that hijacked our govt.. and drove it into ruin.. murder torture kidnapping agressive war.. attacking and destroying much of the us constitution.. using lies to fraud the people. no bid contracts to their friends .. nothing more than money laundering.. except that it alsto cost close to a million lives. i dont know of any statute of limitations on treason.. torture.. murder.. kidnapping.. treason.. these are all capitol crimes i think. unfortunatly i think obama will fail his first test of being a law abiding honest citizen.. which would be to investigate.. and try bush.. or ship him off for a fair trial in germany. i think it will be swept under the rug.. and fester there.. our national shame.. the bush stain.. with obama covering it up.
