Why are politicians and others getting made into Sirs and Lords?

I see that police chiefs and politicians and others are getting made into Sirs and Lords. We're supposed to be a democratic country but we don't seem to have very democratic attitudes do we.

1. They are being knighted because the queen of England likes them. Anyone can be knighted, I remember seeing the ceremony being done for a penguin
2. Did you ever actually believe that America was a true Democracy? Jesus dude come on! Any politician will lie through their teeth to support the have and the have mores ideals. 3. Because there stupid. There is an Amendment to the US constitution(has no time limit) that is waiting for states to vote on it but is almost forgotten by history. The Amendment should it pass would strip every American that holds a foreign title of there US citizen ship. The trick is it is mostly liberals going for it so just wait until more liberals get "knighted" and what not then push it through the states then BAM .. fewer liberals in the US with power.. ------ Ohh forgot to blast you for making the mistake millions of Americans have and will continue to make. THE USA IS NOT A DEMOCRACY! The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic(hence no popular votes, thankfully). Every state is technically an independent nation that gives some power to a federal authority. That's why each state is given 2 votes for the senate and the US House of Representatives is based upon population. Balancing out so the large and the small states have fair representation. But here is the kicker. In a democracy receiving such titles would be distasteful but that's about it. In a Republic, it could be construed as an act of treason. If this politician would of tried this even 100 years ago he would of been hanged as soon as he or she stepped foot on US soil. Back in 1900's a Chicago's constaple at the time threatned the King of Britian with jail time if he came to Chicago.(The British King was visiting the US at the time for diplomatic reasons I believe..)
