How are elections in European Union Countries financed?

In the United States corporate contributions and contributions from wealthy individuals subvert our democratic process. How are elections financed in Europe and are lobbyists allowed to bribe lawmakers with trips as they are in the United States?

1. Most countries in the EU finance all of their elections publicly. Kind of like the U.S. option for presidents, though, I can't think of one presidential candidate that has exercised this option.
